Butterflies conjure up images of sunshine, flowery meadows and summer playgrounds teaming with life.

Today we could rarely see them, probably because they prefer to dwell in nature and not in the city where tall buildings are present instead of flowers.

Here in Iloilo City, there’s only one placid place where you can go if you want to bond with butterflies. Ranging from 90 to more than 100 butterflies abound in a truly nature stead.

The CAS Butterfly Garden inside Central Philippine University is a sanctuary for butterflies. For almost eight years of existing since 2002, the garden has been a home for hundreds of those colorful invertebrates. It has a good structure, where some plants are preserved in order for butterflies to propagate well.

Moreover, CAS Butterfly Garden to not only breed butterflies for beautification purposes, they also sell them to those who wants to have the butterflies for burials, weddings and other celebrations.

Butterflies are important not only economically but most of all environmentally.
